CLARK COUNTY VETERAN’S ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

In order to qualify for assistance from the fund a veteran (or their spouse or disabled child) must:

  1. Show proof of Washington State residency for the previous 12 months.

  2. Show an Honorable Discharge (or Under Honorable Conditions), and/or orders for Reserve/National Guard personnel with 180 accumulative days of active duty.

  3. Be indigent or have an income at or below 150% of the established poverty level during the 30 days prior to application.  Spouses or dependent children of disabled or deceased veterans may apply for any/all benefits.  Spouses must not have remarried and dependent children must not have reached their 18th birthday (23rd if they are a full time student).  All other program requirements, restrictions, and documentation apply to spouses and dependent children.  Residency requirements are based on the location of the veteran (if living), otherwise on the location of the surviving spouse.   In the case where there is no surviving parent of a veteran’s dependent child, benefits are based on the location of the child.

NO CASH PAYMENTS – DIRECT PAYMENTS TO VENDORS ONLY

 

Qualified veterans (or their widowed spouse or disabled child) may be eligible for the following:
 

Rent/mortgage

Requires rental agreement/mortgage contract; foreclosure or past due
Notice; and proof of adequate income to maintain payments.
   
UTILITIES Requires a disconnect or past due notice. The vet must be on the account.
   
FOOD

Persons receiving food stamps are not eligible for food assistance.  If you are not receiving food stamps, you will be required to apply. 

Food assistance does not apply to any alcohol or tobacco products.

   
GAS

 Requires documentation of vehicle ownership of employment, employment search, job interview, or medical appointment.

   
MEDICAL Rx only:  Requires prescription or physician’s order.
   
BURIAL  Minus any reimbursements from other sources
   
TRANSPORTATION  Paid for client for active job search, job interview, or medical appointment

The County Service Officer will verify your eligibility and need for emergency assistance. The Service Officer is available only at the following times:

 

MON – FRI      

08:00 AM –12:00 PM
  
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
